Fire safety message
06 Jul 2017
Following the tragic events at Grenfell Tower in London, there has understandably been a strong national focus on fire safety in residential accommodation. Blocks of flats have come under particular scrutiny, particularly those that have been improved using external cladding systems.
Along with other housing providers across the country, Leeds Federated has been working with the government to establish the scale of the problem.
We can confirm that Leeds Federated does not own or manage any homes with the specific characteristics that are currently thought to have led to the disaster at Grenfell Tower.
We would like to offer our assurance that Leeds Federated treats the health and safety of customers, staff and the general public with the utmost priority.
Over the last few years we have carried out a substantial programme of upgrade work to improve fire safety in a large number of our flats and apartment blocks. We visit and inspect communal areas on a weekly basis, also testing fire detection and emergency lighting systems as part of these inspections. We also have smoke alarms fitted in every Leeds Federated property.
It is important that we all remain alert to the risk of fire. If you have any concerns about fire safety, or indeed any other health and safety concerns relating to your home, or any areas surrounding your home, please get in touch with a member of our Customer Service Team as soon as possible.
